With Kajol unable to make a call on her participation in Karan Johar's 'My Name is Khan', her role in the film, opposite Shah Rukh Khan, may well go to Kareena Kapoor.

Kareena had lobbied with Shah Rukh for a role in the film Robot, when the film was proposed to be produced under his Red Chillies banner. With Shah Rukh now co-producing My Name is Khan Kareena's lobbying may finally come good.

The only time Shah Rukh and Kareena have been romantically paired earlier was in Ashoka the Great (2001), which too was produced in part by Shah Rukh.

Karan too had promised Kareena a role in his film when she appeared on his talk show - Koffee with Karan.

Preproduction work on My Name is Khan has already started and there are indications that Kajol feels her role in the film is not compelling enough for her to leave her family behind in India to shoot in US.

Another film that may come Kareena's way, reports TOI, is Ajay Devgan's second directorial venture, probably an action thriller with a social message.

Action films have been Ajay's forte and he could be keen to return to the genre both as a hero and as a director.

"In fact I've two subjects already ready," Ajay said recently. "I may decide to do either one depending on what feels right. There is also a lighter film I have in mind."

Ajay and Kareena were last seen together in Omkara (2006). They are paired again in the forthcoming Golmaal Returns, in which Kareena plays Ajay Devgan's wife, Ekta, who is obsessed with saas-bahu serials.
