Neha Dhupia, Celina Jaitley and Tanushree Dutta have something in common besides winning the Miss India crown. All three stars entered Bollywood post their win and gained a reputation for their ‘hot and bold’ look. Now, a strangely synchronised change has swept over them. Bored with the stereotyped image, they are serious about exploring new kinds of roles.
Tanushree recently surprised many by declaring that her days of onscreen kisses were over! Instead, she said she would only do films that showcased her talent. Then there’s Celina, whose first few films were plush with hot scenes. In contrast, the upcoming Golmaal Returns has her playing a simple, unassuming girl. Apparently, director Rohit Shetty was looking for a leading lady who was glamorous in real life but could play a simple girl onscreen. Celina was the perfect fit.
As for Neha, the actress has already done a handful of ‘un-sexy’ roles, but has yet to have a big hit. Of course, she isn’t about to stop trying. In any case, it might take a while for fans to adjust to these sirens’ new avatars.
